My Angel Darlings,

I’m in Santa Barbra - it’s pouring outside.

I’m perched at a circular desk that is far too tiny for a boy of my size. typing furiously. I have the door propped open to let the rainy air draft into my hotel room. I hate when it’s raining but I get so much more done when it is. it smells so good. it makes me happy for the earth too!

I hope the extra hour of daylight and the slow march into spring time is bringing you all the same happiness and fulfillment that it is bringing to me.

Song of the week pt. 2: Thunder - Demo Version 

I listened through Blue Banisters from start to finish for the first time on my drive to Santa Barbra. I sat in silence for 20 minutes after Sweet Carolina finished playing. I couldn’t imagine a reason why this album had never been brought to my attention until now - 4 years after its release date. I was hearing a majority of those songs for the first time and after investigating the play count on the track list, it seems I’m not alone in my naiveness.

I went down a deeeeeeep google rabbit hole as soon as I got to my hotel room.

It was all by design that’s why! she’s a fucking genius! she released this album as personal testimony - she didn’t intend to generate press around the album. I really appreciated reading Pitchfork’s album review as I tried to better understand this album.

In Thunder, Lana contemplates life with a two faced lover. It’s noted that there were apparently 4 versions of this song recorded as it was initially intended for a different album. Thanks to lanadelrey.fandom.com I was able to track down this link to the demo version and music video as posted by a Facebook user. enjoy :)

I would also be remiss if I didn’t share this thoughtful analysis of Blue Banisters - the album’s title track - that was shared on reddit. I love when people are smart and share it with the world!

It is so easy to be mean. people who are mean are lazy. being lazy is not hot. being mean is not hot.

and being hot matters.

When people are mean to us we have to remember that it is not to be taken personally. when they go low we go high!!! when people project their own negative energy onto us it is not a reflection of who WE are - but rather who THEY are! this is so important to remember!!!

I came to a a realization earlier this week on this topic. It takes a bit of vainness - a bit of cockiness - to not allow others negative energy to bring us down. This idea that they are the problem not us is a bit condescending in nature. but if you are to act negatively towards someone you are agreeing to be treated in a condescending manner in return.

Santa Barbara has some of the greatest vintage and curated clothing stores I’ve ever been to!!! I wanted to link to some of them here.

My lease is up at the end of April!! I’m starting to hunt for fun things to decorate my new place -wherever it may be. COACHELLA WILL ALSO BE HERE IN A MONTH :)))))) my eyes are always peeled for fun things to wear. please submit suggestions to me if you have any. last year I wore a skirt one day. I want to do something fun again this year. ok! yay!
